Best lenses for portrait photography:

• Since lenses at the extremes aren’t optimal for portrait work, the best portrait lens is going to fall somewhere in the middle. A good portrait lens focal range is anywhere between 50 to 100mm.

Best lenses for landscape photography:

• Photographers usually prefer “Wide Angle” lenses which have a substantially smaller focal length. The smaller focal length (For example: 10-22mm) allows a wider field of view which in turn allows the photographer to include more of the scene in the photograph.

Best lenses for action shots:

• The best action lens is going to fall into the telephoto focal length, which means anywhere between 100 and 300 millimeters. A telephoto lens will allow you to stand on the sidelines of your favorite sporting event and capture nice close-up shots of the players in action.
